We enjoyed having a private villa with pool in the heart of the desert! The staff are very accommodating and the service is just outrageous.
A special thanks to Watiba from the F&B team who provide a 5 star Michelin service during our dinner in the restaurant.
Highly recommended!!!

Another 10/10 weekend spent here!
The friendly staff, BEAUTIFUL desert setting and the meticulous thought to detail is not comparable !
We would like to mention by name Mr Rajen, who always make our visits memorable, and Osama and Pradeep who take care of us like family. A ‘thank you’ to Heather in the Spa with her magical hands.
The Outpost is for sure better because of each of them.
We’ll see you again soon…

We were in doubt whether to spend a night in this resort during our stay in Doha, but ultimately (and luckily) decided to just book via them a desert dune bashing experience plus a dinner under the stars at their place. The e-mail exchange during the booking process already showed some hiccups, but I decided not to pay too much attention and was confident the experience was going to be high end. We arranged for a pick-up service at the hotel we were staying in Doha plus a drop-off after our dinner (the transfer service was significantly more expensive than what you could get with a normal Uber or taxi but, once again, we thought it would be luxury and worth the extra cost).
I will summarize below how it all went:
- Nobody showed up at the agreed time for pick-up, so we were waiting outside our hotel like idiots checking all cars coming and going.
- Only upon a call from the concierge manager of our hotel, they said the driver was on his way without having a real justification for the delay (we are reasonably sure they forgot, despite having sent a confirmation email when we booked). They also asked him on the phone how many people we were (!!), which really shows how not organized they are.
- The driver finally arrived with 1 hour delay (which is the transfer time from their resort to Doha...) and with a service car: small, not really clean, full of stuff in the trunk visible from the back seats and definitely far even from the cheapest Uber. He kept apologizing, but again with no real justification.
- The original plan was to have a stop at their resort and start the dune bashing experience from there. Because of their delay though, it was too late for the sunset experience. So we actually stopped to fuel the service car and then were dropped basically in the middle of the street to quickly jump on the car that was supposed to take us for the desert experience.
- We were expecting this car and the experience to be branded and organized by the resort (as we experienced last year in Dubai), but actually it was a third party driver. The driver himself was very good and experienced, although he didn't speak English well and this made the communication more difficult, but again, the car was very old, it smelled heavily like cigarette (our driver was smoking at every stop, not in the car of course, but still you could smell it) with crazy A/C. Once again, not the high end experience we were expecting. Also, again because of their delay, everything was a bit rushed so we had quick 5-minute stops to the various landmarks and then had to continue without really having the time to enjoy. Also and notably, on the website a pic-nic during the experience was mentioned, but nothing even similar was offered, not even a bottle of water.
- Once in the resort after the dune bashing, they offered us to reduce by 50% the transfer service (pick-up and drop-off), which is appreciated but honestly they didn't seem really sorry and concerned about the way they messed up.
- Dinner was good, but the interior part of the restaurant was nothing too much fancy nor cosy and we have seen more friendly service in our life.
- They nicely showed us their largest villa, which is very nice but again nothing exceptional (at least according to our taste and considering the price).
- Restrooms around the restaurant were also not clean, so sadly another disappointing part.
- On the way back to our hotel in Doha they used a proper car. After 10 minutes of driving (which is bumpy for the first 20 min), our driver told us we had to go back as he forgot something. Not a big deal, if it wasn't that we already had enough hurdles with them.
I really hope they will make some efforts to improve as for the moment they are far, far away from what they claim they offer.

First of all I have to say the resort itself is lovely. It's a beautiful setting. Very well done and the villa and pool were clean and well maintained. The staff were great, although communication was sometimes difficult.
However........
We had visited for one night only with our 2 grown up children, so 4 adults. We had villa no.1 The Amiri Villa with 3 bedrooms and a private pool. Like a previous review said it's not actually private as there is a dunes right out back and not only can people see into the pool area but if the curtains are not closed they can see into the bedrooms too.
That aside our main complaints are:-
The restaurant was heaving with flies. They were absolutely everywhere and there was nothing in place to stop them. They did have incense burning to no avail all that made was smoke horrible while we were trying to eat our lunch on arrival. The room was just full of smoke. It was kind of gross. The lunch was completely tasteless and mine was served with a garnish that I had said I was was allergic to when placing the order!
Despite being told on the phone when we had booked there was no need to book activities we could do that with no problem on arrival. We were told we couldn't do a couple of things until the next day when we would be leaving. So we didn't get to do them.
We decided to have dinner in our villa as we weren't prepared to battle the flies again. The dinner was again average. We were also told a particular dish was not spicy but it was so spicy I could not eat it.
We had noticed the noise of the dune buggies out back all day but hadn't paid much attention until bedtime. The noise at times was unbearable even after midnight. We couldn't get to sleep until at least 12:30am. These are are not ones that belong to the resort as the dune obviously is publicly accessible. Then we were woken up around 4:15am by workers outside obviously going off to their duties for the day. Their living quarters are right across from the villas and obviously due to the fact that you are in tents noise travels. This went on and on as each group left until at 5am we decided we'd had enough and just got up!
Overall a very disappointing trip. We won't come back. It's a shame as our children had been visiting for the Christmas holiday from the US and we have guests come stay with us in Doha on and off so we had planned to take overnight trips here with them going forward. We will look for somewhere else now.
On another note and not a criticism of the resort but for anyone with back problems to bear in mind. I have recently had a back injury causing a bulging disk and the last 20 minutes of the journey is off road. Its was dreadful on the way in to the point where I walked with my daughter for the last half a mile. But I drove out and it was more bearable but I did need to get out and walk again part of the way. I know if you do not have an SUV the hotel will pick you up for this part of the journey. But of course you have no control over the driver so beware!
