I think it is necessary to make a distinction between trips and tours proposed by, for example, tour operators who are providing both basis trips and others "made to measure" (for which one pays), and the company actually running the required trip. From this point of view, any CFF station provides much information about interesting trips, and also of course the tickets, so the costs are the lowest available. Just as an example, go to Montreux station to take either a cog-wheel train going to the Rocher de Naye (2000 m) in 1 hour. Alternatively, take the Panoramic Golden Pass train, through the Bernese Alps, to Gstaad and Zweisimmen and other picturesque villages, (about 2 hours). The CFF station also give details of many other trips they offer, including the Chocolate Train and others.
My tip: if you want to organise your own day out, check first at CFF stations for many ideas of tourist trips in this area of Lake Geneva.
